St John Therapy Dog Reading Sessions will commence September 18th, 2010. Two sessions will take place through out the day beginning at 11am - 12pm and an afternoon session from 1pm - 2pm.
These sessions are a perfect way for children to brush up on their literacy skills by reading to a trained, non-judgmental dog. Reading to a therapy dog increases confidence and provides motivation to many children to sound-out difficult words. Plus, being around a Therapy Dog helps to relieve stress and despair, and provides comfort, support and unconditional love. The sessions will also feature education on how to recognize an aggressive dog and how to properly meet and greet a dog. Parents are welcomed to stay with their children and children are encouraged to bring their favourite cushion or pillow.
